Know About the Revised Eligibility Criteria for JEE Main Paper 2

Based on the changes made by in the testing authority by the Indian Government, National Testing Agency (NTA) will now conduct JEE Main examination from 2019. This change was made to give some much-needed respite to CBSE.

According to the exam conducting authority NTA, there have been announcements stating the revised eligibility criteria for JEE Mains paper 2. Depending on the announcement made by the authorities, the aspiring candidates seeking admission into the 5 years of B. Arch course will need to meet the eligibility conditions decided by the authorities. NTA will conduct JEE Mains paper 1 and 2 twice in 2019. JEE Main Admit card will differ and cannot be used in different cycles. Each cycle of JEE Main examination will have a fresh batch of admit cards for the aspirants to use and bring in. It is essential for the aspiring students to keep their JEE Main admit card till the seat allotment process is over and they have taken admission into a college.

The revised eligibility criteria are:

  • The aspiring candidates are required to pass 10th and 12th grade or equivalent examinations with 50% marks in Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry.
  • The aspiring candidates also need to score a clear 50% or above marks in aggregate on their 10th and 12th grade or equivalent examinations.
  • Also, now diploma holder candidates are not eligible for admissions into B. Arch courses through JEE Mains as they were allowed earlier.

Timeline for the JEE Mains exams 2019:

The first set will be conducted in January 2019. The exam will be conducted from 6th January till 20th January 2019. The second time the JEE Main exams will be conducted in April 2019. And the dates are from 6th April till 20th April 2019. The purpose of conducting JEE Main paper-2 is to invite admissions into undergraduate courses of B.Arch and B.Planning into various National Institute of Technology (NITs) and Government Funded Technical Institute (GFTIs).

The JEE Main paper -2 is a three-hour long paper and consists of the following subjects:

  • Mathematics
  • Aptitude
  • Drawing

The aspiring candidates will be required to appear for the mathematics and aptitude section in the online mode while the drawing section will be conducted in an offline manner (pen and paper-based).

Note: As per the notifications of the NTA, only the candidates those who meet all the revised criterion set by NTA will be further eligible for admissions into B. Arch course for the session 2019-20.

In order to prepare for the JEE Main paper -2, NTA has released a set of online mock tests for Maths and Aptitude. There is no mock test available for the drawing section. The aspiring candidates can either download the online mock test or register at the practice centers established by NTA. NTA has set up about 2697 Test Practice centers (TPCs) across the country for the aspiring candidates to get a hang of the JEE Mains mock test papers. The application form for JEE Main 2019 commenced on September 1st, 2018 and will continue till September 30th, 2018.

Once the forms are filled, the JEE Mains admit card will be generated which will be your entry pass into the examination. Hence it is very important to fill in the correct information while the forms, or else erroneous information might be printed out on your admit card. Also, remember to keep the admit card safely till your counselling.
