ગુજરાતી લોકસંગીત અને ભજનની વાત કરીએ તો આપણી પાસે તે વિષયની રચનાઓ તેમજ સંગીતની ધરોહરને સાચવનાર ગાયક અને સંગીત કલાકારોનો વિપુલ ખજાનો છે. તેમાં જુની અને નવી પેઢી બન્ને નો સુભગ સમન્યવ પણ ખરો. પણ જ્યારે ગુજરાતી ગઝલની વાત આવે ત્યારે આપણને કેટલા ગાયક કલાકારોનાં નામ ત્વરિત યાદ આવે? લગભગ આંગળીનાં એક વેઢે ગણી શકાય તેટલા? ગુજરાતી ગઝલ ક્ષેત્રે લોકભોગ્ય એવી રચનાઓ તો પુષ્કળ છે પરંતુ તેને કંઠ આપનાર કલાકારો ખૂબ ઓછા અને એટલે જ આ ધરોહરને જાળવી રાખવાની જવાબદારી પણ વિશેષ બની રહે.
જેમને કહી શકાય કે લોહીમાં જ સંગીત વહે છે અને ગળથૂથીમાં જ સંગીતની સાધના મળી છે તેવાં મયુર હેમંત ચૌહાણ ગુજરાતી ગઝલ અને સુગમ-સંગીતને પોતાનો કંઠ આપી, જુની અને નવી રચનાઓને લોકો સુધી પહોંચાડવાની નેમ ધારણ કરીને અવનવી ગઝલો આપણા સુધી પહોંચાડી રહ્યા છે. તેમનાં પિતા હેમંત ચૌહાણ એટલે ગુજરાતી ભજન અને લોકસંગીતનો પર્યાય. તેમનાં માતુશ્રી અને મોટા બહેન પણ ગાયન ક્ષેત્રે કાર્યરત છે ત્યારે મયુરભાઇને મળેલ આ સંગીતવારસાની વાત કરતો તેમજ તેમનાં મધુર કંઠે આહલાદક એવી ગઝલો સાંભળવાનો લ્હાવો એટલે આ ઇન્ટરવ્યું.
કલાકારો સાથે તેમનાં વિશે વાત કરવી તો ગમે જ પરંતુ વિશેષ જલસો તો તેમની કલાનાં ઘુંટડા ભરવામાં જ આવે ને? એટલે આ ઇન્ટરવ્યુંમાં મયુરભાઇ સાથે પ્રશ્ન વાર્તાલાપ તો કરેલ છે પરંતુ ઇન્ટરવ્યુંની શરુઆત, અંત તેમજ વચ્ચે-વચ્ચે તેમની પાસેથી ભાવસભર અને અર્થસભર ગઝલોનો આસ્વાદ વિશેષ માણવા મળે છે.
પરિવારમાં જ સંગીતનું વાતાવરણ હોવું અને તેનાં થકી ગાયનનો બેઝ તો બનેલ જ હતો, પરંતુ પ્રોફેશ્નલ ગાયન તરફ આવવાનો નિર્ણય લેવા પાછળ પણ એક મસ્ત મજાની કહાની છે જે મયુરભાઇ આ ઇન્ટરવ્યુંમાં આપણી સાથે શેર કરે છે. તેમજ રીયાઝ, ગાયનની પ્રોસેસ, સ્ટેજ પ્રોગ્રામ વર્સિસ સ્ટુડિયો રેકોર્ડિંગ, ઇન્ટરનેટ માધ્યમની સંગીતે ક્ષેત્રે અસર, પહેલી જ ફિલ્મમાં ગીત ગાયું અને તેનાં માટે નોમિનેટ થવું, પિતા તરફથી મળેલ પ્રેરણા વગેરે જેવી કેટલીય મસ્ત વાતોનો રસથાળ એટલે આ ઇન્ટરવ્યું.
ઓછું બોલવું તેમજ વિનોદી સ્વભાવ. મયુરભાઇ સાથે વાત કરો એટલે તેમની તરોતાજા અને હાસ્યથી ભરપૂર એવી પંચલાઇન્સ સાંભળવી એ પણ એક લ્હાવો ખરો જે આ લખનારને ઇન્ટરવ્યું સિવાયની પળોમાં વાતો કરતા, ચા પિતા થયેલ.
તેમનાં થકી ગુજરાતી ગઝલ વિશ્વ ઉજળુ થશે તે નાની- સુની વાત નથી. આપણી પાસે કેટકેટલી અદભૂત રચનાઓ છે જે લોકો સુધી સંગીતનાં માધ્યમ થકી પહોંચે તે ખૂબ જરુરી છે. જાણે ગઝલ સાંભળવા ઇચ્છુક ઓડિયન્સ અને તે રચનાં વચ્ચે એક ગેપ છે. આવા સમયે મયુરભાઇ જેવા યુવા અને નવી પેઢીનાં ગાયક કલાકાર આ ક્ષેત્રે સફળતાપૂર્વક પ્રયાસ કરી રહ્યા છે તે ખરેખર આવકારદાયક છે. આ કારણે નાઝીર વિગેરે જેવાં ઉતમોતમ કવિઓની રચનાઓ જળવાઇ રહેશે અને તેને માણવા ઉત્સાહિત વર્ગ સુધી પહોંચશે.
કર્ણથી સંગીત ઉતરે છે અને દિલમાં સ્થાપિત થઇ જતુ હોય છે. આવી જ અદભૂત ગઝલોની ઝલક સાંભળવા આ ઇન્ટરવ્યું નિહાળવો જ રહ્યો અને શક્ય તેટલા લોકો સુધી પહોંચાડીએ અને મયુરભાઇ જેવા ગુજરાતી ગઝલ ગાયક કલાકારની કલા અને પ્રયાસોને બિરદાવીએ.
