BIG RJ Chandani goes by the popular nick as ‘Charming Chandani’. She hosts a Radio Show “KUCH KHATTI KUCH MITHI‘ on BIG 92.7 FM Rajkot station. Owner of a crystal clear voice. She is a good classical singer having earned ‘Visharad’ in Classical Vocal. She also played cricket and was vice president of her team. She played cricket at national level. Prior to becoming an RJ, she was a lecturer in a college. An M.A., B. Ed degrees holder. Very few RJs do carry profile fields like she does. She also won Gold medal for solo singing in Republic Day Camp (as an N.C.C. cadet) at New Delhi. She also teaches Prachin and Arvachin Dandiya and Western Dance.

- Tell us how you became an RJ?
BIG RJ Chandani
- Well, I was one of the participants of competition “Big Singer” organized by BIG 92.7 FM. At that time, the then programming head told me that they had a vacancy for female RJ, if I’m interested, I should apply for that. And that is how I applied for RJing. Simultaneously, Big Singer competition was going on, and along with that, audition for RJ too was going on. I became the winner in Listeners Category in Big Singer competition. And by that time, approval of auditions were confirmed from Mumbai office. Well, from then, it’s going on.

- Which shows you have hosted in your one and half an year RJing career span so far at BIG 92.7 FM?
BIG RJ Chandani
- So far, I have hosted mostly all the time bands shows. My first show was BIG Chai, a morning 7 to 12 show. After that “Dil Pe Mat Le Yaar”, a night 10 to 1 show. After that the title was same “Dil Pe Mat Le Yaar” but timings were evening 5 to 9. And at present, I am hosting a noon show, 11 to 3 known as “Kuch Khati Kuch Mithi“, a special women band show.

- What profession were you working for prior to becoming an RJ?

- Prior to my RJ career, I was a lecturer in Shri H. N. Shukla College in I.T. and Management field for two years.

- What are your hobbies? Which co-curricular activities you were/are involved with?
BIG RJ Chandani
- When I was in school, I was an N.C.C. cadet and earned ‘C’ certificate. I was the only girl from Gujarat who attended Republic Day camp which is organized every year at New Delhi.
- I am also a national player in game of cricket. When I was in college, I was the member of Saurashtra University Cricket Association and vice captain of the team.
- I have also earned my ‘Visharad‘ in classical vocal Music.

- For you, who is the best RJ and who is the worst?
BIG RJ Chandani
- Ammm… best RJ, if you’re asking…. Myself. If you are asking worst RJ….Myself. Because I personally believe that why should we stop the progress of someone or make them over-confident by praising them? And why also to de-moralize someone by talking negative about them? And hence best and worst RJ is myself only!

- How can your fans find you? Do you have some online community?
BIG RJ Chandani
- In one of the social networking site, I have my profile and community by the name of BIG RJ Charming Chandani. And I have a special message who are watching my interview, do not get mislead by fake ids, profile created under my name. The real profile of mine has a photo of mine and with tag BIG RJ Charming Chandani. And total friends in my profile are 1000.
- Should I do self-praising? (laughs..), ok let me praise myself. And a special thing about my profile is that, it has 1000 friends, which no RJ from Rajkot has. Also my fan community has approx 585 members, which again is milestone in the comparison with Rajkot RJs. And thanks goes to my fans and friends, because of whom I have reached where I am today.

- RJs are known to be very vital, they have to speak with spontaneity and also need to be updated with latest happenings. So how do you keep yourself energized?
BIG RJ Chandani
- My energy source is my listeners. Through the continuous contact with listeners, my energy goes up. Yes, sometimes due to some negative comments it goes down too (laughs…). But our progress is because of our listeners only. In other words, we are what we are because of them only. So I would request my listeners to keep communicating with me, regardless negative or positive comments/feedbacks.

- You would be aware of the fact that the present youth lives with a trend to become an RJ. So what tips you would like to give to them, particularly girls?
BIG RJ Chandani
- I would like to give a single tip. Sometimes it is Art for Art sake, and sometimes Art of Life sake. So do believe in Art for Life sake. You shouldn’t keep the enjoying life of RJs in mind as the motto for becoming an RJ. You should be prepared to do hard work to earn name and fame as an RJ. It’s a very cool field, and I believe that one should experience the life of an RJ once. You get chance to get in touch with new people. So it’s kind of an enjoyable life.
