Having left its indelible mark in South India, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab and Haryana, the Google Internet Bus continues to add more miles and smiles as it enters Rajkot.
The Internet Bus Project is a step towards fulfilling Google’s mission to organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful. This initiative attempts to educate people about what the Internet is, and how it may be beneficial to their lives, by taking the Internet experience to them through a customized Internet-enabled bus, which will travel to several towns and cities across India.
In addition, Google has organized a school outreach program where a team of two people with laptops will branch out from the bus and visit schools that the bus will not been able to reach in order to teach children the benefits of the Internet.
Product Manager, Google India, Jagjit Chawla said that the bus would showcase content in both English and Gujarati and attempt to highlight the necessity and importance of Internet. According to Jagjit Chawla, “The Internet is a strong medium of knowledge. Our attempt through the Internet Bus is to spread the awareness of this medium and its relevance in our daily life. Google aspires to improve livelihoods, lifestyle and productivity for Indian users by generating and preserving income, leading to improved livelihoods and better lifestyles, by overcoming language and literacy barriers.” he elaborated.
User across India will be able to follow the bus through its journey, see more pictures and videos and join online communities by simply visiting http://google.co.in/internetbus
While SpeakBindas visited Google Internet Bus, it was halted at the city bus stop, where everyday many of travelers from rural areas as well as city area visited the bus and learnt many new things about Internet through this excellent initiative by Google.

Good initiative. But do you think it will help in anyway?
It should more visit the rural areas instead of main cities where information on Internet is easily available.
That way, it can be really effective.
What do you think?
